REDEFINING PERFORMANCE

Redefining Performance

We are still discussing the topic of balancing life with our PPP Houraaay! Our last two Ps focused on Prayer and priorities. One must be a man or a woman of prayer to be able to balance life. In this life, because we will have a lot to choose from one must also set the right priorities for a better life.

This last part which is our third P will focus on performance.

It is important for us to redefine our performances

in order to better balance career, family, and ministry.  The Bible says in the book of Philippians 3:7 in the amplified version :

“But whatever former things were gains to me [as I thought then], these things [once regarded as advancements in merit] I have come to consider as loss [absolutely worthless] for the sake of Christ [and the purpose which He has given my life].”

‭‭Philippians‬ ‭3:7‬ ‭AMP‬‬

Ladies and gentlemen we cannot afford to waste our time with the things that don’t build us up. Our time is precious, we were only allotted 24 hours a day. Sometimes we spend too much time in unhealthy performances and unhealthy mindsets. These things drain us, our energy goes to waste.

These things may include

⁃The desire to please everybody. We have to understand that it is not possible.

⁃The hope that everybody will love us. That too is impossible. It’s better for us to know it early enough in life than to live in the illusion that everyone will love us or that we will please everyone. If you are a believer in Jesus- Christ know that people will hate you like they hated Christ.

⁃In the attempt to please everyone, sometimes we forget that We are not omnipresent. You cannot be at 2 weddings at the same time, or cannot attend to everyone, or cannot answer all phone calls that come your way. It is not an emergency, let them call God. The Bible says that if you call him he will always answer. Sometimes it is important to understand that saying NO is not a sin. When you say No sometimes it is just a sign of acknowledgment of your humanity.

⁃The desire to befriend everyone. This too is impossible and unhealthy. We ought to know that some people cannot handle our next level. These people could be found anywhere, in your family, at work even in the church.

⁃One thing that drains us the most is unhealthy mindsets.

We are concerned about the way we dress, we want to follow the trend and keep up, we want to copy others regardless of our financial differences. Dress only for three people: God, your husband or wife if you are married, and Yourself. You don’t have to prove anything to anybody. You live to glorify your God, therefore every other noise is noise from the market. Just because everyone else is wearing Louis Vuitton doesn’t mean you should. In fact, you cannot afford it. Instead, create your own style.

In conclusion

It is impossible to balance family, career, and ministry, we can easily feel demoralized and discouraged. But all things are possible through Christ Jesus. If we follow these PPP‬‬ Houraaay, by the grace of God we will maximize our efficiency in life!

Think …PPP Houraaay !! PPP Houraaay !!
